First of all, I would like to say how much I enjoyed my trip to Denmark.

Everything was organized in a perfect way, kudos to the Danish Terrier Club!

One of the terrier breeds that I judged was the Cairn Terrier, present in a good number under me. The overall quality was good, but I would like to remember to breeders and exhibitors that the key word for this beautiful breed is “medium”, the Cairn should not be exaggerated, and that the standard calls for a male the maximum size of 31 cm at the withers. I’ve had some dogs (and bitches!) rather big in size and quite eye-catching but absolutely incorrect according to the Standard.

Another point to be considered is temperament; the Cairn should be alert, happy, full of life, always wagging the tail. I understand that on the day of the show the sun was shining all day and it was rather hot, but a terrier is a terrier!

Coats were corrects, just some were lacking in undercoat, and this is a very important point to be considered, also.

All the dogs had good bites and large teeth. About heads, the jewel of the crown, many were correct, some had biggish ears and round eyes. This spoils the expression. Few words about the winners: my BOB, Saliva's 3 Coins In The Fountain, was correct in all ways, a well balanced cairn, not exaggerated in any way. He was of a perfect size covering the ground without efforts. My BOS, Nordcairn's Only Teardrops was so feminine, a perfect pair with the male. Watching them challenging for BOB was absolutely a pleasure to me!

In the end, I would like to recommend to the Breeders to pay attention to the type, a Cairn is not a flashy dog, is a little big terrier with a great heart.
